Quote Unquote is a series of posts of my favorite quotes from certain books. This time I am doing Divergent by Veronica Roth. I loved this book! This series has quotes that are funny but there are also ones that really make you think about the nature of humans.
In no particular order:
~“A brave man acknowledges the strength of others.”
~“Peter would probably throw a party if I stopped breathing."
"Well,' he says, 'I would only go if there was cake.”
~“Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”
~“I might be in love with you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you, though.”
~“Human beings as a whole cannot be good for long before the bad creeps back in and poisons us again.”
~“I have a theory that selflessness and bravery aren't all that different.”
~“Politeness is deception in pretty packaging.”
~“We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.”
~“Moths," repeats Will. "You're afraid of moths?"
"Not just a cloud of moths," she says, "like...a swarm of them. Everywhere. All those wings and legs and..." She shudders and shakes her head.
"Terrifying," Will says with mock seriousness. "That's my girl. Tough as cotton balls."
"Oh, Shut up.”
~“Sometimes crying or laughing are the only options left, and laughing feels better right now.”
What is your favorite quote from Divergent?
Can may favorite quote be the entire book? No? OK then. It's been awhile since I've read Divergent, but I really do love “Sometimes crying or laughing are the only options left, and laughing feels better right now” because it is so dang true sometimes.
