New Years Blogging Resolutions

1. Don't Force It. I had a bit of trouble keeping up with my blog this year, that's no secret. I think one of the big reasons beside school, was that I was trying to force myself to write posts just so I could put something up instead of waiting until I was feeling creative. That kind of took the fun out of blogging. So this year I am only going to write my posts when the creative juices are flowing,

2. Be Somewhat Consistent. No more unplanned month long breaks. I will try to post at least three posts a week to start. I might write more some weeks but I think three is a good goal for now.

3. Interact. This year I really want to interact with other bloggers. I want to continue visiting and commenting on other blogs as well as responding to comments on my own. I know I do a little happy dance whenever I see someone comment on my blog so I just want to share the commenting love.

4. Read AND Review. Reading isn't the big problem here, it is writing reviews. I like writing reviews don't get me wrong but sometimes I finish a book and just can't think of anything at the time, so I put it down for later and then never pick it up again. That or when I do pick it up again I've already forgotten most of the plot. So this year I will not slack on reviews. I will try to put out at least five a month.

5. 100 Books. So this isn't exactly a blogging goal, it's a reading goal...close enough. I want to read 100 books this year. I managed the goal last year so i'm confident I can do it again.

What are your new years resolutions (blogging or anything else)?

  1. I agree with all of them, especially #3 and #4. I also want to redesign my blog as I am getting very bored with it. Check out my resolutions at http://myviewpointonbooks.blogspot.com/2014/01/book-bloggers-new-years-challenge-day-1.html :) Oh, and happy new year!

    1. I've been thinking about redesigning my blog too, but I am scared I will mess it up beyond repair.

  2. Those are so reasonable goals. I also have my reading goal up to 100 this year, even though I only managed to read 50 books last year. I think I should do a resolution post as well, if only for a reminder of what I want to do next year on the blog :)

    1. That's why I did mine! So later on this year when I feel like slacking, I can look back at this and remind myself.

  4. My philosophy exactly! If I keep writing them eventually they will come easy to me.

  5. I definitely agree with not trying to force post! Towards the end of 2013, If I didn't have a post for that day, I just didn't post anything instead of just putting something up (because of school, which is always stressful!). I'm glad I found your blog last year :) I love it and I hope to continue to see more post from you !

    1. Thanks! Sadly school will be there to distract me for a while so I just need to learn to balance things.

  6. It looks like we really have similar goals this year! I love your goal of not wanting to force blogging- because this is something we do for FUN. I don't want my blog stressing me out on top of everything that already is *coughs* school *coughs*. I'm inspired so often to write a post, but I always push it back in favor of other things. I want to stop doing that, and write blog posts when I want to. Blogging should be all about the fun, anyways. =) I also really want to be consistent with blogging! My goal is 3 posts per week as well, because towards the end of the year, I totally slacked off. It was bad, and I don't want that happpening again. So what I'm planning to do is scheduling ahead on the weekends (even though I have homework and extracurriculars on the weekend, whatever! ;)). I think that'll help me be less stressed during the week and just focus on commenting when I can, because like you said, commenting is so fun. I love seeing comments, and love spreading the joy as well. =)

Lovely post, Sydney! I hope 2014 is an AWESOME year for you! <3

    1. Thank You! I totally slacked off at the end of last year too! I try to schedule my posts ahead of time, and it actually is really helpful. I also keep track of when everything is scheduled using Google Calenders.

  7. So, everybody is posting super long comments, but uh... I MISSED YOUR POSTS!
100 books! Haha. I only managed to read 40 last year.

    I hope you have a great 2014!

    1. Haha, I appreciate all comments no matter the length. 40 books is still great!

  8. You can totally accomplish your goals this year! I totally get it; I made my blog last year and have barely used it at all, so I really want to get into a consistent schedule, too. I think the reading challenges will be easier for most of us than those having to do with blogging LOL. Good luck with your goals! :)
