Quote Unquote: Looking For Alaska

Quote Unquote is a series of posts of my favorite quotes from certain books. Today I am doing Looking For Alaska by John Green. While this wasn't my favorite book, I think it had some great quotes.

~“When I look at my room, I see a girl who loves books.”

~“What the hell is that?" I laughed.
"It's my fox hat."
"Your fox hat?"
"Yeah, Pudge. My fox hat."
"Why are you wearing your fox hat?" I asked.
"Because no one can catch the motherfucking fox.”

~“So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane.”

~“When adults say, "Teenagers think they are invincible" with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail.”

~“The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.”

~“What is an "instant" death anyway? How long is an instant? Is it one second? Ten? The pain of those seconds must have been awful as her heart burst and her lungs collapsed and there was no air and no blood to her brain and only raw panic. What the hell is instant? Nothing is instant. Instant rice takes five minutes, instant pudding an hour. I doubt that an instant of blinding pain feels particularly instantaneous.”

  1. I love all the quotes so much! I LOVE John Green :) Great post!

  2. I really need to get to this book and The Fault, I hear they are the best! Seriously love the quotes too. I feel like everything John Green does is just perfect.
